You start the game off as a chicken, you have to get the chicken to cross the road so he can get to the other side. You're just jumping into the side of a truck, falling in the water, having a train run over you, or being eaten by another animal.

Crossy Road is basically a Frogger clone, an infinite version of the classic "Frogger" with added style. It's a perfect game to play in short bursts on a mobile device that you simply couldn't stop playing. It also offers incentives to continue playing by adding a variety of cutely designed characters. All the different characters have sound effects, and some change the layout of the game and they have such creative names and random comic sans phrases show up when you play as doge.
